Tips for Visiting Willem de Kooning Drawing

Share

Planning to visit Willem de Kooning Drawing? Here’s what to know before you arrive.

When is the exhibition on view?
Willem de Kooning Drawing is on view to the public June 14–September 20, 2026. Member Previews take place June 11–13, 2026. Members also enjoy a daily member-only hour every day we’re open, 10:00–11:00 a.m., offering a quieter way to experience the exhibition.

Do I need a ticket?
Members and their included guests do not need to purchase tickets, but other visitors will need a $7 exhibition ticket in addition to museum admission. We strongly recommend purchasing tickets in advance, as availability is limited and may sell out, especially on weekends and holidays.

How does entry work?
Entry to the exhibition is managed through a virtual line rather than timed tickets or reservations. All visitors—including members—must join the virtual line to enter. Wait times typically range from 15 to 30 minutes and may be longer on weekends. Members receive expedited access once in the virtual line as part of their membership benefits. We recommend all visitors join the virtual line as soon as they arrive.

What is the latest time I can join the virtual line?
To allow time to experience the exhibition, all visitors must join the virtual line at least one hour before the museum closes (5:00 on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and 8:00 on Thursday).

Willem de Kooning Drawing is in our new Regenstein Hall, on the first floor, near the spiral staircase. When it’s your turn to enter, please make your way to the exhibition entrance with your member card or Willem de Kooning Drawing ticket ready.

What accessibility support is available?
The exhibition and all areas of the museum are wheelchair accessible. Manually operated wheelchairs are readily available, free of charge, at both of the museum’s checkrooms—no reservation required.

Visitors who would like to request an accommodation, including sensory-friendly supports or assistance with the virtual line, please email [email protected] ahead of your visit or speak with a staff member when you arrive.
