The reading room, artwork on display, and the art reference resources in the room are open for browsing M, W, Th, F 1:30-5. To view specific items from our collections in storage, you will need to make an appointment.
All researchers of high-school age and above may consult the collections during our public hours. Younger researchers should contact our staff at [email protected] to inquire about access.
You are welcome to bring in pencils, your personal notes or notebook, USB drives, a laptop, a camera, and phones (set on silent) as well as non-backpack bags that are smaller than 13 x 17 x 4 inches. Large coats and bags will need to be checked.
The Library may accept donations of books, serials, and other printed materials upon review. To offer a donation, please contact the Library Director at [email protected].
The Archives does accept donations that fall within the scope of our mission and/or current collection policy. Please contact us via our Contact Form with information on your donation.
Our collections include a wide variety of physical formats including: books, photographs, slides, drawings, letters, manuscripts, printed materials (e.g., newspapers, magazines, brochures), scrapbooks, ephemera, memorabilia, posters, postcards, and maps. While we are not currently accepting volunteers, we do support internships for college and university students at all levels, and individuals within one year of graduating a college or university program. Internship listings are updated regularly on the museum’s careers page.
The museum’s university partner program enables students from several local colleges and universities to access the museum for free. See if your university is on the list, and plan to show your university ID at our ticket counter
A finding aid is an inventory that describes the contents of an archival collection. Because some archival collections are very large, finding aids may provide an overview of what’s in the collection rather than a list of every item.

Class visits are offered for University faculty and students on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Schedule a class visit here.
