New Ideas, New Voices
The department of Academic Engagement and Research develops and facilitates internships, fellowships, scholarly convenings, and research initiatives.Â
At the Art Institute of Chicago, we’re committed to helping emerging professionals explore career paths in the museum and to developing innovative research and programs.Â
We work alongside the Ryerson and Burnham Libraries and the Art Institute of Chicago Archives to form the museum’s Research Center, a hub for curiosity, discovery, and deep inquiry.
Our Goals
We incubate and amplify new ideas. We aim to lift up the voices and contributions of our colleagues, academic partners, and emerging professionals within the museum and beyond.Â
We integrate mentorship into museum work. We foster a culture of mentorship across all departments at the museum amongst every level of staff.
We build connections. We work to create a growing, interdisciplinary network of support amongst cohorts of students, alumni, and academic engagement partners in our work.
