Plan a visit
Make an appointment to view specific items from our collection.
Once you schedule an appointment, you will receive instructions on how to submit requests for materials through our online catalog. Some items may require transportation from offsite storage, or review by our conservation department.
Find us
The Research Center’s Franke Reading Room is a shared space in which researchers can consult the collections of the Libraries and Archives.
Come browse our selection of reference materials, and see our exhibitions Mon-Fri (closed Tues) from 1:30-5:00 pm.
The reading room is located just south of the Grand Staircase inside the Michigan Avenue entrance to the museum. See our Get Started page to go deeper.
Appraisal resources
No library or museum staff are able to appraise or authenticate artwork. To begin research about works in your collection, please see our pointers on researching art and artists and this list of appraisal resources.
