The Art Institute of Chicago Museum Studies, published twice annually, presents articles on the collections and history of the Art Institute. This issue celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Art Institute’s Burnham Library of Architecture, the only important architectural library in the United States that is housed outside of an academic setting. Articles examine the life and work of Daniel H. Burnham, the history of the collections and service of the Burnham Library, and the importance of architectural photographs. In addition, two articles single out special collections in the Burnham Library: the collection of original Louis Sullivan documents and the P.F.L. Fontaine Collection.

Articles in this publication:

Ross Miller, “Burnham, Sullivan, Roark, and the Myth of the Heroic Architect”
