Museum Studies
Volume 8 (1976)
Edited by John Maxon
Museum Studies collects serious studies of works of art in the Art Institute of Chicago. It has long been felt that the scholarly obligation of a great museum can only adequately be met by such an annual publication. We have invited distinguished specialists to join our staff in preparing these studies. This issue contains articles on three marble reliefs attributed to Luca della Robbia, technical investigations into Gerard David’s Lamentation and a panel formerly attributed to David, two Spanish Baroque paintings of uncertain attribution, Jean-Baptiste Regnault’s late work Cupid and Psyche, new discoveries regarding an important Thomas Cole painting of Niagara Falls, and a perforated clerestory board from the Charles Weltzheimer house in Oberlin, Ohio.
Articles in this publication:
Charles Avery, “Three Marble Reliefs by Luca della Robbia”
