Guided tours, also referred to as docent-led tours, are conducted by specially trained volunteer educators who engage students in close looking, discussion, and creative and critical thinking about works of art in the museum.
Our skilled docent educators engage students in interactive, inquiry-based experiences that support their critical and creative thinking skills as they develop their own interpretations about works of art. Students will have the opportunity to deeply explore four-to-six artworks in our collections that span time, geography, and culture.
We are slowing down our tours, taking time with each piece of art to interweave content with a range of learning strategies that value student choice and expression through a range of modalities including dialogue, drawing, writing, and movement.
Participants in guided tours are welcome to extend their visit through self-guided exploration of the galleries at their own pace.
- Docent-led tours are only offered to students in grades 1–12.
- Docent-led tours are currently on hiatus. We look forward to opening opportunities when possible.
- Tours are offered at 10:00, 10:30, 11:30, and 12:00; not all tours are available at all times.
