The International Exhibition of Modern Art, also known as the Armory Show, was the first large exhibition of modern art in America. The Art Institute was the only US museum to host the exhibition. It introduced the American public to a wide array of European avant-garde artists and their American counterparts. Among the featured artists were Duchamp, Matisse, Picabia, Brancusi, Picasso, Braque, Archipenko and Davies.
