Drop into the Ryan Learning Center to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with activities and performances inspired by his famous speech, What Is Your Life’s Blueprint? Enjoy stories and songs, engage in family friendly art making, take a tour of the galleries, and, if you’re a teen, you can join us in Studio B to experiment with with traditional and contemporary paper techniques during an Open Studio session.
All activities in the Ryan Learning Center are free for all, every day we’re open, but museum admission is required for in-gallery activities. Admission is always free for kids under 14. Plus, Illinois residents enjoy free admission to the museum on King Day with Free Winter Weekdays through February 28.
about the teaching artists
Andrés Lemus-Spont and Marya Spont-Lemus lead ¡Anímate! Studio, a Chicago-based arts collaborative. True to their name, their projects embody our shared values of community, mentorship, possibility, and openness to experimentation as well as encouragement toward action. In their workshops, they guide intergenerational groups of participants in reimagining and remaking existing objects and structures through open-ended, play-based experimentation in public spaces.
Amanda Payne is a singer, actor, comedian, and teaching artist who is passionate about fostering a lifelong love of music in students of all ages. She started teaching music for littles in 2018 and currently teaches Wiggleworms at the Old Town School of Folk Music.
