Kwang-Young Chun

The works in Kwang-Young Chun’s Aggregation series combine thousands of individually wrapped mulberry paper parcels into intricate landscapes. The individual parcels mimic how medicine was commonly packaged during Chun’s childhood in Korea.

Teens are invited to experiment with traditional and contemporary paper techniques to create your own work and, if you’d like, contribute to a large-scale collaborative piece.

All materials will be provided, and no prior experience is necessary.

We’re hosting monthly open studio hours for high school students on Chicago Public School nonattendance days to co-create a communal place that is not home or school, but a youth-centered third space. Explore the museum, make art, eat snacks, and hang out with fellow teen creatives!
