Edward Hopper

In an all-night diner, three customers sit at the counter opposite a server, each appear to be lost in thought and disengaged from one another. This scene from the painting Nighthawks is one of the most referenced in American art. Join us in Gallery 262 to discover what makes this iconic work so unforgettable.

This holiday season, we’re hosting short, 30-minute talks across the museum to take a special look at singular artists and artworks. Explore other spotlight talks here.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This program will meet in the galleries and remain in one or two locations for 30 minutes. ASL interpretation and/or assisted listening devices are available upon request at [email protected]. Assisted listening devices are limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Requests must be made at least two weeks in advance.
