Join artists Dorothy Burge and Dr. Sharbreon Plummer for a timely conversation about the role that textiles play in advancing social justice and capturing difficult histories. The pair will discuss the legacy of quilts in Black history as well as Burge’s own work as an artist and activist and the importance of her two newest works, made for the exhibition On Loss and Absence: Textiles of Mourning and Survival.

This event is presented by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and made possible by the William Bronson and Grayce Slovet Mitchell Lectureship in Fiber and Material Studies.
