Sarita Garcia Headshot

Sarita Garcia is a Chicago-based artist, educator, and cultural worker born and raised in South Tejas. Garcia holds an M.A. in arts education and a B.F.A. in fiber and material studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. As a printmaking and fibers artist, Garcia is informed by architectural spaces of her vernacular culture, using image archives to talk about consumerism, identity, and cultural hubs. Garcia’s fantasy-scapes showcase iconography as a means of empowerment, remixing the reality of cultural centers.
