Fluted Armor

Portions of a Field Armor for Man and Horse, about 1525

Kolman Helmshmid. Collection of Daniel and Deborah Manoogian Family.

What does armor tell us about who owned, wore, and created these steel carapaces of the past?

Plenty, in fact. Like our own clothing, armor reveals intimate details about the body, activities, and tastes of its wearer. Join curator Jonathan Tavares as he examines Renaissance armor from our galleries, unraveling their mysteries from the material evidence they contain.
