Two young women sit painting in front of Alexander Calder's Flying Dragon, a bright-red metal sculpture located in a blooming garden.

Visitors paint in the North Garden.

Vincent van Gogh and his contemporaries spent the late 19th century experimenting boldly in their paintings of the changing urban landscapes in and around Paris.

Inspired by their work and the exhibition Van Gogh and the Avant-Garde: The Modern Landscape, this Saturday Studio invites you to paint landscapes of your own in the distinctive gardens in and around the museum campus.

In case of rain, the program will be moved to the Ryan Learning Center inside the Art Institute’s Modern Wing.

We are pleased to partner with Lurie Garden for this Saturday Studio program. Lurie Garden, Millennium Park’s “secret garden,” blends artful design, history, and ecological function to create an urban model of sustainable horticulture. This naturalistic garden is a place of rest and renewal for humans and wildlife alike.
