Join fellow members of the Buckingham Society on June 15 for coffee and tea in celebration of Van Gogh and the Avant-Garde: The Modern Landscape.
The gathering follows a lecture on the exhibition led by Loren Wright, assistant director of Interpretation, who will share the exhibition’s surprising connections with works across the museum. You are welcome to visit the show before or after the event.

In the Art Institute’s early days, the Buckingham family played a critical role in ensuring the museum’s future. The Buckingham siblings—Clarence, Lucy Maud, and Kate Sturgis—each supported the museum in their own way: Clarence gifted his 2,500 Japanese prints in 1914, and Lucy Maud and Kate donated artworks and established endowments to support the collection’s growth and care. Since then, many more individuals have provided for the museum’s continued strength and excellence with bequests of all sizes.
Support from Buckingham Society members helps ensure visitors of all ages and backgrounds have access to everything the museum offers.
