Beauford Delaney

What happens when you look at two portraits side-by-side? What could they say to one another? What might they say to you?

Explore works of art from the Art Institute’s collection and create an individual or family portrait in this virtual workshop led by Art Institute of Chicago educator Melissa Tanner. Plus, take a close look at the groundbreaking portraits of President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama, on view this summer in The Obama Portraits (through August 15).

This free virtual family workshop is meant for families with children ages 8 and under.

For this family-friendly studio, you’ll need:

  • Favorite drawing tools (markers, crayons, pencils, etc.)
  • Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue (optional)

This virtual event will be hosted on Zoom. Find Zoom tutorials and resources here.
