Todros Geller

This installment of Chicago Stories, co-facilitated by Art Institute educators Corinne Rose and Nancy Chen, focuses on the artwork of the Ukrainian-born artist Todros Geller as a lens to explore immigrant experience in 1920s Chicago. Through painting and prints, Geller depicted everyday scenes from Jewish immigrant life that reflect the complexities of assimilation and finding a sense of belonging while suspended between old world traditions and modernity in the city of Chicago.
