Acclaimed filmmaker Jim Jarmusch and multi-instrumentalist Carter Logan perform together as SQÜRL, a self-described “enthusiastically marginal rock band from New York City.” For this program they perform a live score to four silent films by Dada and Surrealist artist Man Ray. Using loops, analogue synthesizers, and effected guitars, the duo create a semi-improvised ambient score for Man Ray’s dreamlike images.

Films by Man Ray, selected by SQÜRL and listed in the order they will be screened:

L’Etoile De Mer (1928)
Emak Bakia (1926)
Retour a la Raison (1923)
Les Mysteres Du Chateau Du De (1929)

If this program reaches capacity, a stand-by line will form outside the venue at 7:00 for seats that become available.

Persons with disabilities who would like to request an accessibility accommodation for an Art Institute program are encouraged to send an email to access@artic.edu two weeks in advance of the program.
