As a museum dedicated to presenting and celebrating art from around the world, it is important for us to also be mindful of the rich cultural traditions of our home, Chicago. For thousands of years, Native Americans have stewarded the lands and waters of this region and continue to thrive in our city today. This Land Acknowledgment Ceremony is to formally recognize that the land on which the museum sits has long held significance to Indigenous Peoples.
Please join museum leadership and our partner, the American Indian Center, for remarks, a reading of the Land Acknowledgment, and a short performance in the museum’s Fullerton Hall.
