Hokusai Great Wave

Under the Wave off Kanagawa (Kanagawa oki nami ura), also known as the Great Wave, from the series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji (Fugaku sanjurokkei), 1825–1838.

Katsushika Hokusai. Clarence Buckingham Collection.

Enjoy one of the most iconic images in the history art. Commonly called The Great Wave, Katsushika Hokusai’s masterpiece is rarely exhibited due to it’s delicate nature. Lucas Livingston leads a lively conversation on the artistry, history, and connoisseurship surrounding not one, not two, but three versions of The Great Wave exhibited side-by-side.
