About the Speaker
Scott Allan is associate curator of paintings at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles and co-curator of Manet and Modern Beauty. A specialist in 19th-century European painting, particularly French, he completed his masters degree at Williams College in 1999 and doctorate at Princeton University in 2007. Since starting at the Getty in 2006, he has curated several major exhibitions, including Manet: A Bar at the Folies-Bergère (2007), The Spectacular Art of Jean-Léon Gérôme (2010), The Scandalous Art of James Ensor (2014), and Unruly Nature: The Landscapes of Théodore Rousseau (2016).
