Tonika Johnson is a photographer and lifelong resident of Englewood on Chicago’s South Side, where she cofounded the Englewood Arts Collective and the Resident Association of Greater Englewood. She was a 2024 Gordon Parks Foundation Fellow, and the foundation hosted her first solo exhibition, featuring her Englewood photography, in 2025. Photographs from her Folded Map project were included in the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago’s exhibition Long Dream (2020–21). In 2017 Chicago Magazine named her Chicagoan of the Year for her images of Englewood’s everyday beauty.
