Shannon Palmer
Shannon Palmer is the former assistant director of Public Affairs at the Art Institute of Chicago. She first joined the museum in 2016 as an intern in Learning and Public Engagement(LPE) and returned in 2017 to join Students and Educators, also in LPE, rising to become coordinator of educator programs and resources. In this role she functioned as a writer, educator, and project manager, producing educator resources and programming. Most recently, she was the project manager in Communications where she stewarded countless public-facing projects through production. Her equity work at the museum has ranged from taking part in the reinvention of student tours and coordinating community-based focus groups to serving as co-chair on the Equity Steering Committee.
Prior to her time at the Art Institute, Shannon was a program assistant at the University of Michigan Museum of Art. She holds a bachelor of arts in history of art and sociology from the University of Michigan.
