Mimi Cherono Ng’ok

Mimi Cherono Ng’ok is a Kenyan photographer currently based in Nairobi. In June 2021 she presented her first solo exhibition in the United States, Mimi Cherono Ng’ok: Closer to the Earth, Closer to My Own Body, at the Art Institute.

Previously she has had solo exhibitions in Denmark, Kenya, Mozambique, and South Africa. Recent exhibitions include participation in the 10th Berlin Biennial (2018), the 57th Carnegie International (Pittsburgh, 2018), Africa State of Mind (New Art Exchange, Nottingham, 2018), African Metropolis: An Imaginary City (MAXXI, Rome, 2018), Recent Histories: Contemporary African Photography and Video Art (The Walther Collection, Neu-Ulm/New York, 2017–18), and Portable Identity (Inga Gallery, Tel Aviv, 2017). Her work was the subject of solo exhibitions at Tiwani Contemporary (London, 2017), and Galleri Image (Aarhaus, Denmark, 2016). Mimi is a recipient of the 2017 Photo London Art Proof Award.
