Megann Lawlor is the 2024–25 McMullan Arts Leadership Intern in Modern and Contemporary Art, mentored by Giampaolo Bianconi, Dittmer Associate Curator, Modern and Contemporary Art.

Megann is a Chicago-born interdisciplinary artist and researcher with a dual background in visual art and science. She holds a BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and a BS in biology from Tufts University, both earned in 2024. Her academic and creative interests converge in her work with the museum’s collection, where she focuses on data analysis, visualization, and map making. She has also produced over a hundred maquettes of contemporary artworks for the department, along with numerous exhibition mock-ups that support exhibition planning, and interpretation. Megann’s artistic practice centers on printmaking and incorporates self-portraiture, illustrated characters, and distilled biological principles such as feedback loops and membrane channels. She explores concepts of motion by activating her prints through performance and kinetic sculpture, translating interior conflict and cyclical patterns into physical form.
