Alexandra Kader Herrera
Alexandra Kader Herrera is the McMullan Arts Leadership Intern in Photography and Media, mentored by Jamie Vaught, Collection Manager, Photography and Media.
Alexandra is a Costa Rican art historian, photographer, and aspiring collections manager pursuing two master’s degrees: one in modern and contemporary art history and the other in arts administration and policy at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in art history and a minor in French studies. Alexandra is interested in the role that family photography plays in the formation of identity within migratory, transnational families, and in artists whose practices reimagine family photography practices. Similarly, her own photographic practice, complemented with archival and collage-making techniques, explores her family’s diverse heritage, histories, and narratives.
