Gabriela Trinidad-Pérez

Gabriela Trinidad-Pérez is a McMullan Arts Leadership intern, a Caribbean arts professional, and a student part of the dual degree program in Modern and Contemporary Art History and Arts Administration and Policy at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Her academic practice engages an interdisciplinary approach in the sectors of queer and gender theory, visual culture, cultural identity, and contemporary art, with a particular focus on artistic connections between the US and Puerto Rico. She hopes to bring forward this expertise towards an educational and arts administrative practice, focusing on methods of decolonialism and community work, while also working in spaces that foster, promote, and cater to queer and BIPOC communities. Previously, Gabriela has held positions in the academic magazine Visión Doble, the research center CRiiAS, as a peer advisor in SAIC’s CAPX program, and most recently as a Learning and Public Engagement summer intern for the museum. Currently, she works as instructor of record for SAIC’s Art History department and as an intern will be working on Teen Council in collaboration with educator Ayana Chavis and associate director Hillary Cook of Learning and Pubic Engagement’s Youth and Families program area.
