JB Fry

Jb Fry

JB Fry is an associate designer in Exhibition Design at the Art Institute of Chicago. Previously they served as a McMullan Arts Leadership intern, also in Exhibition Design. JB is a recent graduate of School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

They are a conceptual designer that fabricates objects and creates immersive installations. In school, JB studied fibers and material studies, sculpture, and 3-D animation. Their interdisciplinary practice navigates issues of gender, sexuality, and autonomy. In a recent work, they animated a short-film that archives the narratives of artists directly impacted by HIV/ AIDS in the U.S. during the 1980s to present. JB was a 2021 artist in residence at Ox-bow School of Art and Artists’ Residency (Saugatuck, MI).
