James H. Allan is executive director, Philanthropy, at the Art Institute of Chicago. In his more than 25 years with the organization, he has held a variety of roles at the museum, the School, and the Gene Siskel Film Center. His focus has long been connecting members and donors with institutional priorities and stewarding the generous gifts of previous generations.
In addition to his work at the museum, James is a docent with the Chicago Architecture Center and has led a variety of tours for them over the last 25 years. His specialty is the Chicago Architecture Foundation River Cruise. He holds a BSFS from Georgetown University, where his coursework included art history, architectural history, and art and culture.
