About this artwork

Bronze Smoke, Altitudes, and Door were the last prints Frankenthaler created at U.L.A.E. until she returned briefly in 2006. Together, these three prints show the artist’s growing fascination with colored paper, both as a ground for the overall composition but also as a border for the image, a fascination that would continue for the remainder of her career.
