About this artwork
Another style favored by Peche throughout his brief career involves stripes of brilliant colors shown in a graduated way, an effect known as ombré. The coloristic effect of Regenbogen and the work to its left, Krone, both produced in 1919, harks back to two related patterns conceived in 1911. The effect was also utilized as the background for several wallpaper patterns made in the early 1920s. The image to the right shows the use of Regenbogen in the living room of the Wolko Gartenberg apartment, Vienna, in 1921.
