Inscribed by the artist: After rain the mountain villa rises rather late At the small window the light dawn as yet only half warms; The old man still wants his pillow and listens to the oriole’s warble The young boy pushes open the shutters and releases the swallows to fly. On the sixteenth of the lunar month in the Lesser Spring (tenth month) of the year 1725, by Xiting [Yang Jin], age eighty-two.
