About this artwork

Approximately 300 prints are known by the anonymous master who signed many of his prints with the initials E.S. His work dominated the art of engraving at mid-century. This highly detailed plate of his early maturity is shown in a particularly rich impression which reflects his mastery as a goldsmith as well.
