About this artwork
The title of this print—the only one of this image that the artist made—refers to a “family at sea,” but the amorphous forms set against a blue background are almost comically abstract. They may be floating on top or just about to sink into the pigment, which has been laid onto the paper in an uneven fashion that makes the work look more like a painting than a print.
