About this artwork

In contrast to the nostalgic period designs of most of Narcissa Thorne’s miniature rooms, this Jazz-Age Parisian library is decorated in a contemporary Art-Deco style. As a woman of financial means, Thorne likely spent time in glamorous, modern interiors like this one on her numerous trips to France’s fashionable capital throughout the 1920s and 1930s.
