About this artwork
Clout Chasin’ is a collage of screenshots, selfies, and error messages. It illustrates artist Qualeasha Wood’s experience of being doxed (having her personal information exposed online) by an antagonist on the opposite side of the political spectrum. This work specifically calls out the sexist and racist comments directed at her, forcing viewers to confront them in physical form, unable to click away. Wood’s use of a digitally controlled Jacquard loom suits her composition of pixelated online images, marrying the digital with the age-old medium of weaving.
