- Inscriptions: Signature of Kunisada is above at the right and is preceded by the words: "Omoi kiya rakurui nagara" i.e. While thinking of him we shed tears. A long inscription written & signed by Hiroshige's old fr iend "the litterateur" Tenmei Rojin covers most of the field of the print above the portrait. Signature: Toyokuni ga. Seal: Ki en ikku; a Buddhist phrase meaning "Life is a mere puff of smoke, so short." Signature of Kunisada is above at the right and is preceded by the words: "Omoi kiya rakurui nagura" i.e., While thinking of him we shed tears. A long inscription written and signed by Hiroshige's old friend "the litteratour" Tommei Rojin covers most of the field of the print above the portrait
