About this artwork

This poster appears to have been commissioned by a local Gaborone textile company. Likely appreciating the visual impact of Medu’s posters and graphic work, businesses in the city occasionally asked the collective to design publicity material. Like a few other posters in this exhibition, this work is signed NGWEDI, which means “moon” in the Setswana language. Medu adopted the word as the name of its graphics unit around 1982.
