About this artwork

A prolific artist and a longtime creative director for Playboy magazine, Art Paul has created iconic and striking images for a wide range of projects. He created this poster for the Shoshin Society, a group of graphic designers committed to world peace. The bright ring of an eclipse disrupts an all-black background, and the design is punctuated with the statement “War Kills the Sun,” a foreboding message with environmental and political resonances that remain relevant nearly three decades later.
