About this artwork

Each of Yuri Suzuki’s five Colour Chasers is a small computer on wheels that translates different colors into musical sounds. To make the cars work, the user draws a line on a piece of paper with a black marker and adds colored nodes throughout the path. As the car follows the hand-drawn route, it detects and translates the color data into musical notes. Each of the individual names for cars—the Arpeggiocar, the Basscar, the Drumcar, the Glitchcar, and the Melodycar—reflects the type of sound it produces.
