About this artwork

Using a comprehensive approach, Project Projects integrates the mission and spirit of an institution into its identity systems. For SALT, a cultural institution in Istanbul, the firm employed a nontraditional plan that has a set of rules around a custom-designed typeface but no distinct logo. The original design emphasizes the institution as a set of ideas rather than a brand and is intended to change constantly through fresh interpretations by designers. Every four months, a new designer is commissioned to alter four letters of the typeface—S, A, L, and T—leading to an ever evolving identity.
