About this artwork

The Grand Traiano Art Complex in Grottaferrata, Italy, serves as the headquarters for the Depart Foundation. Studios for artists-in-residence and exhibition pavilions sit within a matrix of mixed-use programs and parks. As islands within an archipelago, the art spaces both exemplify the breadth of the Depart Foundation’s collection and exhibition program while defining a new kind of urban theater with stages for art and outdoor recreation. The collage shows a massive audience looking toward the museum, illustrating the headquarters as an outside public art site that breaks open the “white cube” gallery space.
