About this artwork

In 2003 Poetry magazine reorganized as the Poetry Foundation and decided to build a permanent home to advance its mission of raising the public profile of poetry. John Ronan’s design ensured the organization’s activities and resources would be visible from the street, thoughtfully putting the interior in dialogue with the surrounding civic environment. The sketches present views of the cultural space from the garden, which plays a key role as another “room” while also mediating between the street and the inside of the building.
