About this artwork

The design of Kukje Gallery developed interior and exterior spaces that are both distinct and contrasting. As seen in these renderings, the expansive interior space emulates the traditional white cube—a blank space for artwork to be displayed—while the exterior has a distinctly, unique character. With the function of the interior gallery space driving the formal development of the project, the metal veil stretched around the exterior diffuses the impact of the angular concrete structure on the surrounding urban fabric to help weave this modern art gallery into Seoul’s historic Sogyeok-dong neighborhood.
