In its explosive fragmentation of the word No, this piece represents an emphatic rejection of the continuing operation of Indian Point, a nuclear energy facility in Buchanan, New York, not far from Stein’s home. In the mid-1990s, Indian Point had numerous operational problems, leading to legislative and public hearings in which the issue of shutting the plant down was considered. No to Indian Point is exceptional among Stein’s weavings in its forthright political stance.
