About this artwork

In 2004 the Camden Arts Centre in London commissioned graphic designers Sara De Bondt and James Goggin to design a continuous series of publications for its exhibition program. The resulting File Notes is a series of booklets, each containing an essay about the artist, images of works, quotes, a biography, and a reading list. While the color and materials palette vary for each exhibited artist, the designers created a standardized look by utilizing a consistent grid and typography. Visitors can collect File Notes individually or as a group and conveniently flip through them by placing them in a custom-made, screen-printed binder. When the individual File Notes are bound together, the volume becomes, “a lavish yearbook,” with different paper stocks, Pantone colors, die-cut tabs, and laminations.
