About this artwork

Written, designed, and published by Archeworks, a Chicago alternative design school founded by architects Stanley Tigerman and Eva Maddox in 1993, Bringing Food to the Table tells the story of the collaborative design process that launched Archeworks’s Mobile Food Collective (MFC), a fleet of bike-operated modular food carts. The MFC is an interactive project that partners with the Gary Comer Youth Center in Chicago to engage communities across the city in a more participatory food culture through collaborative exchange and urban agriculture education related to sustainable local food production and preparation. This publication also traces the group’s journey from Chicago to the 2010 Venice Biennale.
