About this artwork

This brightly colored portable typewriter is part of the Olivetti Studio series, which began production in 1938. While many machines designed for offices were large and cumbersome, this lightweight and colorful model was an ideal fit for the private market. This model is significant as it was part of a short generation of portable typewriters introduced before the advent of electric typewriters and personal computers in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
