In the chateau of Laval, who escaped to Germany, the French police discovered thousands of bottles of the finest wine, a golden dagger, presented to Laval by Otto Abez, the former German ambassador to Vichy, and also a large number of medals and various gifts from Hitlerite leaders.
(From the newspapers)
[The sign on the left side reads: “Laval’s villa.”
On the right side the notes read: “To Laval, from Hitler”; “To Pierre, from Adolf”; “To Laval, for faithful service, from Hitler.” The labels on the bottles read: “Chablis”; “Rhine”; “Bordo” [sic], “Port”;
Laval escaped to Germany,
But fleeing in fear, he forgot to bring
The “Führer’s” present: a dagger,
“Rheinwein,” and swastika buckles.
The people will find the villain,
The sly Judas will not escape!
No wonder France sings:
“Whoever sold out his people
Will never bribe his way out of the noose.”
